Do I really need a lawyer, or can I use an online service?

Online forms can't ask about your specific family and assets, catch mistakes, or make sure your documents are signed and witnessed correctly under New Jersey law. A document that isn't executed properly can be challenged exactly when your family can least afford it. For a flat fee, you get a plan built for your situation by a licensed New Jersey attorney. A template is limited and can have serious consequences.

Do I even need an estate plan if I don't have a large estate?

Estate planning isn't about how much you own. It's about who decides what happens to it, and to you. A basic plan lets you name who inherits, who handles your affairs, and who makes medical and financial decisions if you can't. Those questions matter at every income level.

Do I need a full estate plan, or just a few documents?

Many New Jersey families don't need a trust or a complex plan. A will, a financial power of attorney, and a healthcare directive cover the essentials for most people. On our first call I'll help you figure out what you actually need, and nothing you don't.

What happens if I die without a will in New Jersey?

New Jersey law decides who inherits, through a fixed formula that may not match your wishes, and a court decides who administers your estate and, if you have minor children, who may raise them. A will lets you make those choices yourself instead of leaving them to the state.

How does the process work, and how long does it take?

It starts with a free 45-minute to one-hour long consultation. We talk through what you need. I draft your documents, we review the terms, and then you sign. I offer in-home notarization in Ocean County. Most plans are completed within two weeks, but that can depend on the client.

What does it cost? Are there hidden fees?

Foundational planning services are listed with clear flat fees on the site. There is no hourly billing. You'll always know the price before we start.

Do we have to meet in person?

Your choice. I offer in-home signings in Ocean County at no extra charge, appointments elsewhere in New Jersey for a travel fee, and free initial consultations by Zoom or phone. Many clients handle the whole process without leaving home.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes. Estate plans can and should be updated as your family, assets, and wishes change (i.e., after a marriage, a new child, a move, or a major purchase). I'm here to help you keep it current.
